My goal is for our lessons to be safe and fun for your fishy, in doing so I require your fishy to try their best and for you as a parent to support and trust my teaching techniques. If you are bringing additional fishies, please ensure they are sitting with you at all times.I ask that you enter through the side gate that is on the left side of my house as you look at it (on Spanish Dr.). I highly suggest bringing goggles for your little fishies like these or these. Please do not let your fishy eat 2 hours prior to their lesson.
Medical protocols are to keep your fishy safe, but may require you to hold your fishy out of lessons – such as: diarrhea, loose bowels, fever, rash, vomiting, dr. appointments including well visits that include vaccinations, etc… Please see our cancellation guidelines here.
ONE Happy Nappy swim diaper IS REQUIRED as the outer swim diaper. Order this now. Fishies not potty-trained for 6 months will wear TWO REUSABLE swim diapers (find at Target, Walmart, Leslie’s pool store & online).
IMPORTANT: What can you do now to prepare your fishy for lessons?
*Allow water to get on their face/ in eyes. Some fishies come to lessons who do not like getting their face and eyes wet. You can start with just little drops slowly adding more and more during bath time before using bath soap and shampoo. Try fun squirt toys, some are super small. Use cups in the bath to also pour water over his body and head. If this is difficult for your fishy, starting super slow with small amounts of water and slowly building up helps progress lessons.
*Do not allow your fishy drink bath water. During lessons your fishy will learn breath control by keeping the water out of their mouth. We never want fishies to swallow pool water.
*Avoid blowing bubbles. When fishies are taught to blow bubbles into the water, they consequently learn to exhale before submersion. This dramatically decreases the amount of time a fishy can hold their breath underwater and increases their chances of sinking. In order to swim, your fishy needs to be able to inhale. *Teach your fishy to hum – thus closing their lips to prepare for submersion.
